The Living Heritage of Guérande

On the windswept Atlantic coast of Pays de la Loire, the salt marshes of Guérande have yielded France’s legendary "white gold" since the Iron Age. The contours of these shallow clay basins remain virtually untouched since the 10th century.

Here, production is an entirely natural ballet of sea, sun, wind, and time. Guided by generations of ancestral know-how, master salt workers (paludiers) tenderly harvest the crystalline crust using artisanal wooden tools—leaving the minerals unrefined, additive-free, and rich in natural magnesium.
